Sustainable Mobility
Sustainable mobility offers are meeting with a great response. For the research institutions and companies, health-promoting and environmentally friendly bicycle mobility for employees is part of the common guiding principle of the 'Green Campus', as are charging stations for e-mobility.
CAMPUSbike – powered by nextbike
Employees of all institutes and companies of the Campus Berlin-Buch and of the Helios Klinikum Berlin-Buch can rent a CAMPUSbike on any of the eight stations in Berlin-Buch using the nextbike app. The first 30 minutes are free. Afterwards a rental fee of 1€/30 min (max. 12€/24 h) applies.
How it works:
- SIGN UP
Get the nextbike app and register using your official campus E-Mail. Upon confirming your payment method, you will be charged 1€. This 1€ is your starting credit. After debit via credit card your customer account will be activated immediately. Debiting via credit transfer may take up to four days. You can change your means of payment anytime. - RENT A BIKE
Enter the bike number and press "rent" or scan the QR-Code on the bike. You will receive the four-digit lock code via the app. Enter the lock code into the BikeComputer. The fork lock will then open automatically. - PARKING
Lock bike and press „P“ on the BikeComputer. To continue re-enter the 4-digit lock code. - RETURN THE BIKE
Return the bike to any of the four nextbike stations in Berlin-Buch. Push the cable lock through the fork to secure. Press OK and wait until the BikeComputer confirms the return.
Bikes can only be returned at official stations in Berlin-Buch. If all bike racks are full, you can just leave the bike next to the station and check out the bike by phone or via app.

- Who can rent a CAMPUSbike?
CAMPUSbike can only be used by employees of the institutes and companies of the Campus Berlin-Buch. Get the nextbike app (Android or iOS) or use the website and register free of charge using your official campus E-Mail. - 2. Where can I return a bike?
CAMPUSBike has to be returned to any of the four nextbike stations in Berlin-Buch: P&R-parking ground on the south exit of S-Bahn-Station Berlin-Buch, Campus Berlin-Buch, Helios Klinikum Berlin-Buch main entrance. Bikes can only be returned at official stations.

E-Mobility
Charging points for cars are available for staff and guests on the Berlin-Buch campus. The charging stations are located at Building D80.
“NewMotion”, Europe’s largest smart charging partner, provides the charging points. The power supply with 100% green electricity as well as customer billing at market prices is provided by E.MAGIS as our partner.

E-Scooter powered by Lime
As part of the unique pilot project "Mastering the First and Last Mile Together" with the district of Pankow, the Berlin Senate Department for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection, the Helios Klinikum Berlin-Buch and the Campus Berlin-Buch, Lime offers station-independent E-Scooters in Berlin-Buch via its app.
At the start of the project, a total of 30 E-Scooters and three Swiftmile charging stations are available in the area around the Berlin-Buch S-Bahn station and the Berlin-Buch research campus and clinics.
How to use Lime:
- Scan the QR Code
- Download the Lime app
- Sign in with phone or email or facebook or Apple for iOS-users
- By phone: Enter the SMS code
- By email: Click on link in your inbox
- By facebook: Log into your account
How to ride:
- Scan QR Code, you will hear a sound
- Disconnect E-Scooter from charging cable
- Place one foot firmly on the baseboard. Use your other foot to push off against the ground a few times.
- Once you’ve gained some speed, press down on the throttle near your right thumb to accelerate.
- To slow down, squeeze the hand brake or the foot brake.
- Once you're done riding, you must end your ride via the app and receive confirmation.

Bicycle Parking, E-charging Stations & Repair Shops
Campus Berlin-Buch offers roofed, illuminated and barrier-free bicycle parking spaces close to the entrance of the buildings. Some of the bicycle parking spaces are lockable and secured with an electronic access system. The offers for cyclists include a campus bike workshop, e-charging stations as well as seasonal bike checks and police bike coding campaigns.

Bicycle-friendly Employer
Campus Berlin-Buch was the first science and biotech park in Germany to receive the coveted silver "bicycle-friendly employer" seal from the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) in 2018. Since April 2024, the Campus has held the gold seal.The General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) has been granting EU-wide certification since 2017.

Who Cycles the Most?
In the annual "Who cycles the most?" competition between Berlin state companies, employees have brought the winner's trophy to the campus several times – and also saved CO2 emissions with healthy exercise.
